Adult Immunization

Vaccinations are important for people of all ages, not just children, because they provide the most effective protection against disease. Although we receive most vaccinations during childhood, we do not always gain lifelong immunity against all diseases. During adulthood we require booster shots to maintain our defenses against some diseases like tetanus (lockjaw) and diphtheria.

To find out what vaccines are recommended for adults, visit the Government of Ontario’s Adult Vaccination page.

Getting your shots

Contact your health care provider or call Public Health for an appointment at 1-800-265-7293 ext. 7006.

Appointments made with Public Health will be held at one of our Public Health clinic locations. Some of the vaccines we offer are publicly funded or are offered on an assessment basis through the high-risk vaccine program, so they are free, while other vaccines require payment.

We don’t bill insurance companies directly, but we do provide a receipt for vaccines where payment is required.

Remember to always keep a record of any vaccines that you receive.
